What are three words to describe yourself?

Why - How - What

What was your very first business or creative idea? Did that make any money?

To offer innovation strategy consulting out of a design firm (IDEO), by adding Business to Human and Technology methods. Yes.

What was your biggest challenge when you started your first business?

Identify the right engineers.

What was the best advice in life or business you've ever received?

Make money to build great products (instead of building great products to make money).

Which three people, famous or not famous, dead or alive, would you most like to invite to a dinner party? Why?

Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi - the wisest man about creativity
Pep Guardiola - to learn how he fosters passion
Malcolm Gladwell - incredible source of understanding "why"

How do you define success?

When you have so much fun at your startup, that you decline x mio salary offers.

What makes a founder successful?

When you have changed the lives of your early employees (and they decline the x mio offers too).

What do you do in order to keep on learning and developing?

Focus on solving problems I believe in.

Which resources are you recommending to first time entrepreneurs?

What's the biggest risk you've ever taken?

Start an innovative company (ie, not a clone) in Europe.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Learn to build products (i.e., get a degree in deep engineering).

What's something you don't want to regret when you're older?

Not having written a book.

What's your favourite book?

Creativity: The Psychology of Discovery and Invention by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi.

What character traits of other entrepreneurs have impressed you?

To be truly in love with their product and how it can change everything.

Do you believe successful ventures require something meaningful?

The goal is not to start a company, but to solve a problem - which eventually is a problem of many more people and requires you to start a company so all can benefit from your solution.

What's something that first time founders should avoid at all costs?

Stop looking for problems others have. Solve problems *you* have, because nobody is as passionate about them and nobody can solve them as well as you.

Why are you getting involved with Best of X?

To let startups know about the BMW Startup Garage, which is quite awesome.

Final question - where can people find you online and why would you like to be contacted? – to get feedback about and answer questions about the BMW Startup Garage.
